This was the reason why some doctors of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, who were on duty, decided to have dinner together and watch Neeraj Chopra’s match live together.

One of these was the trainee doctor who was called for emergency duty in the hospital on Thursday night. She completed her duty at night and went to the seminar hall of the hospital for dinner with four of her colleagues. Along with dinner, they also gathered together and watched the match of Neeraj Chopra. After which his friends left from there, but the trainee doctor decided to stay there and sleep for a while or rather spend the night.

In fact, this seminar hall of the hospital is rarely used for activities like seminars or meetings. In such a situation, hospital staff and doctors often go to this seminar hall to rest during work, to change or to take a nap during night duty. Even on Thursday night, the 31-year-old doctor was resting after dinner in that seminar hall and was also seen sleeping there till around 3 o’clock in the night.

The next day i.e. at around 6 am on Friday, after what the hospital staff saw in this seminar hall, there was an uproar not only in the hospital but in the whole of Kolkata. The semi-nude body of the same trainee doctor was lying drenched in blood in the seminar hall and there were innumerable injury marks on the body. Looking at the dead body, it seemed that perhaps an attempt was made to rape the trainee doctor just a few hours ago and in the same attempt, he was also murdered. This was definitely a big deal. Because in a safe place like a hospital, a trainee doctor was murdered in the seminar hall inside the emergency building and no one heard any scream or noise of this incident until the next morning no one saw his dead body.
Who is the doctor’s murderer?
Now the question was, how could this have happened? Who was behind this murder? A hospital staff, a attendant of a patient, an outsider or someone else? Within no time, people started getting angry in the hospital over this murder. Especially the doctors working in the hospital, trainees and students studying in medical colleges were very angry with this incident. In such a situation, after receiving the news, Kolkata Police immediately reached the spot of the incident and started investigating the matter. Initially, apart from the blood-stained body of the trainee doctor, the police had no other clue in this case.
Interrogation of seven-eight people
However, different teams were formed to investigate the matter and each team started its own investigation. Some team focused on technical investigation, some started identifying suspicious people visiting that hospital by citing local sources, while some were given the responsibility of gathering information related to mobile phones. Most of the investigation involved footage from CCTV cameras installed around the seminar hall. Since the police also knew the probable time of the murder, the police started investigating the CCTV footage of this time frame. And in this connection, a total of seven to eight people came under the radar of the police, from whom interrogation was started.

Whoever’s answer was found satisfactory, the police kept him out of the scope of investigation, while the one whose answer was found suspicious, the noose of investigation kept tightening on him.
Sanjay Roy came on the police radar
In this connection, the face of a 33-year-old civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy, who used to frequently visit that hospital, also came before the police. Coincidentally, Sanjay was also seen in the CCTV camera that night going towards the seminar hall in the hospital. Roy was first seen in the hospital around 11 pm, after which he came out. But after this he was again seen going towards the emergency building of the hospital at around 4 in the morning and after about 40 minutes he again came out from there. According to police sources, looking at his CCTV pictures, it seemed that perhaps he was under the influence of alcohol. Anyway, when the police started gathering information about Sanjay Roy, it came to light that he was a drug addict and had a habit of drinking alcohol daily.

But in the meantime, the police involved in the investigation got a clue, after which it became clear that the accused of atrocities and murder of a trainee doctor is none other than Sanjay Roy, on whom the needle of suspicion is circling. Actually, during the investigation of the crime scene, the police had found a broken neckband Bluetooth earphone. It was suspected that these earphones could belong to any accused involved in this incident. Because during the investigation, it had become clear that at least the earphone did not belong to the victim girl. On top of that, the way the earphone was broken, it seemed that perhaps it got broken during the atrocities with the trainee doctor. Must have gone.

Now the police decided to examine the CCTV footage once again to verify this aspect. And this time the police were surprised to note that when Sanjay Roy was going towards the emergency building at 4 in the morning, he had a neckband Bluetooth earphone around his neck, but when he came out after 40 minutes, he The Bluetooth earphones were not around his neck. This means that the suspicion was almost confirmed that the earphone belonged to Sanjay, which had fallen in the seminar hall during the atrocities and murder.

Now the police tried to check the pairing i.e. connection of that Bluetooth earphone with the mobile phones of Sanjay as well as all the people shortlisted from the CCTV footage. And she was shocked to see that the earphones were found paired with Sanjay’s mobile phone. That is, it became almost clear that the earphone did not belong to anyone else but to Sanjay Roy.

This was just the first step of the investigation, when the police examined Sanjay’s mobile phone, they found such things in it that even the policemen themselves could not believe their eyes at first. Sanjay’s mobile phone was filled with countless porn videos. And porn videos are not just like that, but extremely violent and beyond all limits of humanity.
Shocking revelation about Sanjay Roy
According to police sources, this was proof that Sanjay Roy was a mentally disturbed person, about whose truth very few people knew. Now the police, along with taking Sanjay into custody, started gathering as much information as possible about him. It was revealed that he often watches porn videos after drinking alcohol at night and keeps roaming in and around the hospital. During the investigation, the police came to know that Sanjay Roy has been married four times, but despite this he remains alone. His house is near the hospital. In fact, due to such strange and violent mentality, three of his wives have left him, while the fourth wife has died due to cancer last year.

After these information related to Sanjay Roy came to light and especially after his mobile phone was paired with the Bluetooth device found at the spot, the police detained him and started interrogating him. If sources are to be believed, when the police caught him on Friday, he was still in an intoxicated state. Initially he tried his best to mislead the police, but due to CCTV footage, Bluetooth and many other evidences found from him, he finally confessed to committing the crime. According to police sources, he attacked the trainee doctor at around 4 am on the intervening night of Thursday-Friday when she was sleeping in the seminar hall. First he tried to molest her and then when she protested, he strangulated her and took her life.

But there was one thing with him that he forgot after cleaning the blood stains and that was his shoes. When the police arrested him, they recovered his wet clothes as well as blood stained shoes.
Comparison with Nirbhaya case
Kolkata Police has expressed suspicion that someone else may also be involved in this incident along with Sanjay Roy. The police is investigating the case from that angle also. In fact, the policemen were also shocked to see the marks of brutality on the dead body of the trainee doctor recovered from the seminar hall. The condition of the dead body was such that people started comparing it with the Nirbhaya case of Delhi.
The doctor’s body was full of wounds
Although the trainee doctor was murdered by strangulation, there were innumerable injury marks all over his body. There were many injuries especially on the face and blood was coming from the eyes. There were marks of scratching all over the body and the private parts were also badly injured. Apart from this, there were injury marks on the lips, lower abdomen and right hand, fingers were broken and there was also a fracture in a collar bone i.e. shoulder bone. After recovering the body on Friday itself, the police sent it for post-mortem.
Demand to hang oneself
The post mortem report has now come out. The report has found evidence of sexual assault on the girl before her murder. Apart from this, the injuries present on his body are also of anti-mortem type, which means that it is clear that he was tortured before the murder. The manner of death has been stated to be strangulation and respiratory arrest. According to the police, during the initial investigation the accused has confessed to the crime. And during interrogation, he told the police several times that he wanted to be punished for his actions, he should be hanged.
DNA and forensic investigation
At present, the police is investigating and trying to find out whether a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy was the only one involved in committing atrocities on the trainee doctor or whether someone else was also involved in the murder. At present, forensic experts are going to take the help of DNA examination to get to the bottom of this matter. They will try to find out through DNA whether the semen of only one person is present on the dead body or of more than one person? And most importantly, does that semen belong to accused Sanjay Roy or someone else? The police have also sent the accused’s clothes, shoes, mobile phone etc. for forensic examination. So that the blood stains found on clothes and shoes can be examined and their DNA can also be tested, while the police is trying to get the details of the mobile phone along with its location as well as the data stored in it.
The deceased was the only child of the family
The girl who became the victim of this incident comes from a normal family. His home is in North Twenty-four Parganas district. Her father runs a small business of school dresses. He once used to supply school dresses and despite all the difficulties, he got his daughter to study medicine. But now this incident has broken them. The victim girl was the only child of her family.

On the other hand, the accused in the case worked for the Civic Volunteer Police. Since his posting was in a nearby post, he used to come to the hospital fearlessly and being in the hospital, he used to earn money in return by helping people get treatment there as a middleman. But he had a dangerous addiction to alcohol and watching porn.
