Police raided Sheikh Bari Colony in the Jaleshwar police station area of Balasore district in Odisha. During this period, police arrested notorious brown sugar smuggler Ruksana Bibi, alias “Scooty Didi”. During this period, the police seized 55.26 grams of brown sugar, which was said to have an international market value of Rs 5.5 lakh. The police also seized Rs 8,700 in cash during the raid. The operation was led by Jaleshwar SDP and included a team of 15 police personnel. The SDPO of Jaleshwar said the raid was carried out based on secret information. During the operation, Ruksana was successfully arrested.
Police arrest female smuggler
Let us tell you that many cases have been registered against Ruksana, who used to run a brown sugar supply network in the district. According to sources, Ruksana and her brother-in-law SK along with Rashid brought brown sugar from Murshidabad in West Bengal and supplied it to Jaleshwar and surrounding areas. According to police records, the West Bengal STF arrested SK Rashid from Kolkata two years ago. At that time, a large amount of heroin, Rs 10 lakh in cash and a car were seized from him. The SDPO said Ruksana’s brother-in-law and husband were part of the smuggling network.
Ruksana’s parents were also arrested
He told reporters that both men have been arrested and are currently lodged in Alipore jail in West Bengal. But Ruksana continued to use the scooter for his smuggling activities. Jaleshwar police also arrested Rukhsana’s parents. who helped him in this work. During the raid, the police also collected important clues from the accused’s hideout. Jaleshwar SDPO said: “We will continue to take action against the brown sugar mafia. This arrest is an important step towards dismantling the network.
