December 3, 2024: Britney Spears officially turns 43, a major legal milestone. On December 2, 2024, the pop icon became legally single, marking the official end of her marriage to Sam Asghari.
The announcement comes seven months after the couple reached divorce settlement in May. Although the divorce itself was settled earlier this year, Britney’s single status was officially recognized on her birthday.
The divorce process has been described as uncontested, with both Britney and Sam (whose full name is Hisham Asghari) agreeing to the division of property and marital rights, including any support obligations. Final legal documents confirmed December 2 as the date their marriage was officially dissolved.
Sam Asghari, 30, initially filed for divorce in August 2023, just over a year after he was married to Britney, known for her song “Gimme More.” At the time, Sam expressed his hope for kindness and respect from the media and public regarding the separation, adding that he wished Britney the best and that they would always have love and respect for each other.
Following the split, Britney took to Instagram to share her feelings, explaining her shock after their six-year relationship ended. While she didn’t reveal specific details, she acknowledged that she could no longer endure the pain of the situation and stressed that she wanted to stay strong. “I’m going to do my best and my best!!! And I’m actually doing really well!!!” she wrote, showing resilience in the face of heartbreak.
Despite their separation, there is no sign of any animosity between the former couple. Britney even called Sam “a gift from God” in her October 2023 memoir, the woman inside mea sentiment that seemed to resonate with Sam. He later said the comment made him laugh.
Sam has entered a new stage in his life as he transitioned from fitness to acting. Reflecting on these changes, he emphasized the importance of being positive and grounded, focusing on living according to truth rather than the opinions of others. “It’s the bed you make, and you have to learn how to lie in it,” he said, acknowledging the personal growth that comes with life’s transitions.
