Brazilian woman arrested after swallowing 124 cocaine capsules during search at Mumbai airport

The Directorate of Tax Intelligence (DRI) has arrested a Brazilian woman. 124 capsules containing cocaine were recovered from his possession. He swallowed the capsules before landing at Mumbai International Airport. An official provided this information to a news organization. The value of the seized banned substances is estimated at Rs 973 crore, the official said.

This banned substance is brought into India for smuggling. The official said investigations were ongoing to track down other members of the international drug ring. An official from DRI’s Mumbai regional unit said the woman was intercepted on special request after landing from Sao Paulo on Wednesday.

The woman admitted that she had taken the capsules containing the drugs and smuggled them into India, the official said. After her arrest, the woman was produced before a magistrate and then admitted to the Government JJ ​​Hospital.

Doctors removed 124 capsules containing 973 grams of cocaine from the woman’s body, which are worth Rs 973 crore in the illegal market. According to field test reports, the substance, claimed to be cocaine, was seized on Saturday under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The police officer said that the woman has been arrested. Further investigations are underway to identify other members of the international drug cartel and the woman is being interrogated from multiple angles.
