After appearing on political platforms with their father Omar Abdullah on several occasions in recent times, Zaheer and Zameer on Tuesday joined the roadshow of NC candidate Ajay Kumar Sadhotra in Jammu. 68-year-old Sadhotra, a former minister and two-time MLA, held a roadshow from Paloura to Janipur before submitting his nomination papers to the returning officer for the Jammu North assembly seat.

Congress leaders participated in the road show

The BJP has fielded former minister Sham Lal Sharma from Jammu North. He joined the BJP after resigning from the Congress in March 2019. Omar Abdullah’s son, sitting on top of a decorated vehicle along with Sadhotra, was seen waving to the crowd and shaking hands with them.

The roadshow covered a distance of about one kilometre and was attended by thousands of National Conference workers and supporters. Several Congress leaders, including former minister and party candidate from Madh constituency Mula Ram and Uday Bhanu Chib, also joined the procession.

Zaheer and Zameer kept avoiding talking to the media

On Monday, Zaheer and Zameer, who are both lawyers, attended a party function at the National Conference headquarters in which dozens of youngsters were welcomed into the party. Though Omar’s sons avoided media persons, Sadhotra used the occasion to attack the BJP. He accused the BJP of doing divisive politics and spreading hatred in society.

Targeted the Union Home Minister

He said, ‘It is unfortunate that the Home Minister of our country is misleading the public by saying that we are planning to change the name of Shankaracharya and Hari Parvat hills (in Srinagar). Where is this written in our manifesto? We have clearly said that we want to install a cable car between the two hills for the convenience of pilgrims.’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Jammu and Kashmir a few days ago to release the BJP’s manifesto and campaign for the party. Sadhotra’s additional general secretary urged the BJP not to spread hatred using religion.
