German Chancellor Olaf Scholz addresses students of BITS Pilani in Vasco, Goa
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on a three-day visit to India. Meanwhile, he said on Saturday that borders should not be changed through “war or the use of force.” It is time for us to develop relationships as equals. No one tells others what to do.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this while talking to students of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, in Vasco during his visit to Goa. He said Russia’s attack on Ukraine is currently the biggest threat to international peace because its purpose is to change borders.
Speaking to students at BITS Pilani, Scholz described respect for national borders as the basis for peace. During this period, he also visited the German naval ship FGS Baden-Württemberg anchored in the port of Mormugao.
“The biggest threat is Russian aggression”
In response to a question, he mentioned Russia’s war with Ukraine. Scholz said, “In the crises and conflicts we are seeing today, the greatest threat to international security and peace is Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.” He said there is only one reason for this, and that is the intention to change the borders.
He said: “What we have agreed in the United Nations Peace and Security Agreement and many other regional agreements, such as the one on Europe, is that borders can never be breached through war or the use of force. “If you are a small country, then this is peace the basis of.
Scholz reminded that “Kenya’s ambassador to the United Nations once told the Security Council that the borders of African countries were drawn by colonial state officials.” If we all try to find the real borders and fight a war, Africa will continue to 9 years of war.
India and Germany have good relations – Scholz
Scholz said many Indians currently live in Germany, including about 50,000 students, a 50% increase from the 2022 figure. Talking about the good relations between India and Germany, Scholz said, “I am happy to know that Indian students have become the largest number of foreign students studying in German universities”. The German Chancellor said that India and Germany are moving forward together with innovation, dynamism and continuity.
These issues were discussed with Chancellor Modi-Scholz
He pointed out that it is necessary to ensure maritime border security and promote smooth trade, and countries should abide by international rules. “I completely agree that everyone should follow the rules set out in these general protocols,” Scholz said.

He said, “These rules should not be set by the most powerful countries.” As the United Nations Court of the Law of the Sea has argued, these rules should be rules that we make together. Scholz said he discussed these issues with Prime Minister Modi and we agreed that this was an important aspect.
