Bangladeshi infiltrators have become a problem in many states of the country.
The rising number of infiltrators in Bangladesh has become a problem in many states of the country, including Jharkhand, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh. Bangladeshi infiltrators remain a big issue in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections. Surveys show that the rising Bangladeshi population in Jharkhand, Assam and Bengal has changed the demographic structure of many areas in the three states.
That is why the central investigation agency ED has also taken action to control Bangladeshis living illegally in the country. The ED raided 17 locations across Jharkhand and Bengal. During this period, the ED also arrested two Bangladeshi citizens, Ronnie Mondal and Sameer Chaudhary, besides Pintu Haldar and Pinky Basu. The four accused were involved in infiltrating Bangladeshi citizens and illegally settling them in Jharkhand and Bengal.
Fraudulent Indian Citizenship
They allegedly used fake documents to defraud Bangladeshi citizens to obtain Indian citizenship. Central investigation agency ED has registered a case under PMLA based on an FIR registered by West Bengal police in June 2024 under the Foreigners and Passport Act. The charges allege that two women named Manisha Roy and Juma infiltrated a Bangladeshi girl named Nipa Akhtar through the jungle.
Since then, it has been revealed that many such gangs operate in various Indian states such as Jharkhand and West Bengal and are involved in infiltration operations along the India-Bangladesh border. The ED seized fake Aadhaar cards, passports, printers, illegal weapons, cartridges, cash and jewelery from the four accused arrested during the raids.
How did Bangladeshis penetrate into West Bengal?
The border between Bangladesh and West Bengal stretches for 2,272 kilometers. Apart from the Hooghly, there is infiltration through forests in Bangladesh. Most of the infiltration cases were from 24-Parganas and Murshidabad. Bangladeshis take advantage of Malda’s porous border. Pagla Ghat was the main route for Kaliachak infiltration. Gangs that infiltrate at the border through forged documents are also active.
After penetrating into West Bengal, the real destination of the Bangladeshis was Santal Pargana in Jharkhand. In Santal Pargana, these Bangladeshi infiltrators changed the demography of six districts. Where the tribal population used to be the largest, it has now decreased.
Money marriage, conspiracy
Many such cases have come to light in Jharkhand as well, where Bangladeshis have lured or lured tribal women into marriage with them. This changed the demographics of the area. This is why the issue of infiltrators in Bengal has heated up in this parliamentary election.
Similarly, in northeastern India, the dense forests in the hilly areas of Assam, Tripura and Meghalaya bordering Bangladesh have also become sources of infiltration. Moreover, once the Hasina government in Bangladesh is overthrown, terrorist groups there plan to carry out large-scale attacks at the behest of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Following the recent intelligence input, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also begun operations.
The National Intelligence Agency has taken major action against those suspected of colluding with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda and conspiring to carry out terrorist activities in India. Search operations were conducted at nine locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar, Tripura and Assam. Bangladeshis suspected of financing al Qaeda. During the search operation, the NIA recovered documents and digital devices related to bank transactions.
