Bol visits Gurez Bandipora; reviews poll preparations, attends multiple SVEEP events

J&K Chief Electoral Officer Pandurang K Pole on Thursday visited Bandipora to review poll preparations for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.

The comprehensive review, which covered key locations in Gurez and Bandipora, was aimed at ensuring smooth and efficient election administration across the district.

During his visit to Dawar Gurez, the CEO participated in the SVEEP program at Dawar Boys High School where students showcased cultural projects aimed at creating voter awareness.

He then traveled to Budouab, where he visited a polling station and participated in cultural activities organized by SVEEP.

Praising the management for encouraging greater voter participation, the CEO arrived at the Chitternar Forest Training School where a series of activities including inspection of virtual EVMs at green and pink polling stations and SVEEP drills were conducted, besides the unveiling of “election tree” Symbolizing the region’s commitment to free and fair voting.

During the welcome ceremony in Chitternar, the District Electoral Officer briefed the CEO on the preparations and SVEEP activities undertaken for the effective management of elections in the district. The event also witnessed a cultural extravaganza including folk performances such as Chakri, Band e Pather, role play, etc., emphasizing the importance of voting and democracy. First-time voters are given the opportunity to speak, encouraging young people to become more involved in the democratic process.

During the event, the CEO also launched the GELS 2024 Coffee Table Book, a publication capturing key aspects of the election.

In his speech, the CEO emphasized the government’s commitment to a transparent electoral process and emphasized the importance of voter awareness. He expressed optimism over the record-breaking voter turnout in Bandipora and commended the district administration for its efforts in creating awareness.

CEO stated “Every vote is vital to our democracy and all eligible citizens are urged to actively participate in this democratic process and exercise their right to vote on the scheduled date.

Voting is taking place peacefully and our focus remains on providing voters with a safe and convenient voting experience, he said.

The CEO concluded his visit to the designated counting center at Bandipora Degree College and participated in a kite flying event and plantation drive to symbolize a clean and green electoral process.

He reviewed the logistical arrangements at the counting centers and urged all stakeholders to remain committed to ensuring a free, fair and participatory electoral process.

Among them, General Observer Bandipora and Sonawari AC Nelson Eyon Bage, General Observer Gurez Ramniwas Yadav, Expenditure Observer Sudeep Dabas, Police Observer Adarsh Sidhu, SSP Harmeet Singh, ADDC Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ADC Zaffar Husson Shawal and other relevant personnel also participated in the meeting presentation .
