A married woman was found hanging in her house in Kota, Rajasthan. After the incident came to light, the police have registered a case of dowry death against the husband and in-laws of the deceased. The police are currently investigating the matter.
A dowry death case was registered against the woman’s husband and in-laws on Tuesday after a 27-year-old woman was found hanging in her room, Kota police officials told PTI in the case.
Ganga Shaya District Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) informed that on Monday afternoon, Manisha Kumari’s husband Lokesh (32) told the police that his wife locked the door of the room from inside after knocking on the door several times. No response was given.
DSP Ganga Shaya further said that after receiving information, the police team reached the spot and broke the door of the room and found the woman hanging from the ceiling. He lost his life. The police have taken away the woman’s body. After completing the paperwork, the body was sent for autopsy.
Police officer Ganga told reporters that Manisha and Lokesh got married two years ago. The victim’s family claimed that husband Lokesh and his parents started harassing Manisha Kumari after their marriage. They used to harass her for dowry.
According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, based on a complaint from Manisha Kumari’s parents, the police have registered a dowry death case under Section 80 of the Indian Judiciary Code against her husband Lokesh and her in-laws. He said police handed over the woman’s body to her family after a post-mortem examination on Tuesday morning.
