Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh, accompanied by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, recently led a significant roadshow followed by a public rally in Samba. During this event, Chugh addressed historical grievances related to the Sheikh Abdullah-led government during the Jana Sangh era, emphasizing the need for development over what he termed “conspiracies.”

Chugh recounted the imposition of “two constitutions and two symbols” during Sheikh Abdullah’s regime, highlighting the arrest of Jana Sangh’s founder, Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He criticized the ongoing narrative established by Sheikh Abdullah, which he claims persists through his descendants who continue to advocate for the reinstatement of Article 370. Chugh posed a provocative question to the audience, urging them to reflect on whether they should support the ideals of Premnath Dogra or succumb to what he described as a conspiracy aimed at keeping Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) “shackled” by Articles 370 and 35(A).

Chugh specifically targeted former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah’s calls to restore these articles, arguing that such moves would undermine the constitutional framework established by B.R. Ambedkar. He framed the upcoming election not merely as a contest against the National Conference (NC), Congress, and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but as a critical juncture between those advocating for the return of Article 370 and those supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda for J&K.

In his rallying cry, Chugh urged the people of Samba to vote for the BJP and ensure the success of their candidate, Surjit Singh Salathia, reinforcing the party’s commitment to progress and development in the region.
