Damage control for Marandi seat, Himanta contests with independent candidate
There has been a major upheaval in the Jharkhand Raj Dhanwar seat. The BJP has persuaded Niranjan Rai, who is contesting as an independent candidate. However, discussions are taking place from Jharkhand to Delhi on how to convince Niranjan. BJP state president Babu Lal Marandi is contesting from Raj Dhanwar’s seat. Marandi is also seen as a contender for the chief ministership.
Polling for the Dhanwar assembly seat in Giridih district has been proposed on November 20. The main competition here is between the Popular Party and the Marxist-Leninist Party.
Himanta-Dubey flies ahead of Shah rally
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Nishikant Dubey visited Niranjan Rai’s house on Saturday , Niranjan Rai is contesting the Raj Dhanwar elections as a rebel from the BJP. All three leaders are said to have had lengthy talks behind closed doors.
The persuasion was done before Amit Shah’s rally. Amit Shah will seek votes for BJP’s Babu Lal Marandi in Dhanwar today.
After this, Niranjan Rai came to the helipad and dropped off Himanta and Dubey. Dubey and Sarma asked Niranjan Rai to sit with them. As soon as Niranjan sat down, the helicopter took off. A crowd gathered to watch the helicopter fly.
Amid the uproar, Lok Sabha MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey said Niranjan Rai will stay with the BJP. They have been convinced and soon we will bring them among the people. Niranjan Rai is said to be supporting Babu Lal Marandi at Amit Shah’s rally.
JMM says – It’s the politics of price and quality
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also gave its reaction throughout the episode. JMM representatives said it was the politics of money and prices. The Bharatiya Janata Party is shocked at the possible defeat of the BJP state president.
The JMM further said that the people of Dhanwar are smart and will not be deceived by such tactics of the BJP. The public will go all out to defeat Babu Lal Marandi in the elections.
Dhanwar’s equation still holds true for BJP
Babu Lal Marandi won the Dhanwar seat in 2019. At that time, Marandi was on the symbol of Vikas Morcha of Jharkhand. This time, Marandi is embroiled in a fight over the BJP’s symbol.
Here, Marandi’s main rival is Male’-based Raj Kumar Yadav. The JMM, however, fielded a candidate in a token gesture.
Dhanwar parliamentary seat has the highest number of Muslims at 24%. Apart from this, the population ratio here is 9.6% Yadav, 7.5% Kudmi and 5.5% Bhumihar.
Babu Lal Marandi, who belongs to the tribal community, has been contesting elections from Dhanwar seat for a long time. This is a general category seat. With Marandi also involved and the PPP also facing this fight, the party is leaving no stone unturned.
