A Samajwadi Party leader in Lakhimpur Kheri, UP has accused a BJP MLA of snatching his nomination papers in the cooperative society elections. The SP leader alleged that local BJP MLA Manju Tyagi snatched the documents from election officials during the nomination process for the Phoolbehad cooperative society. Now the video of this incident is also becoming increasingly viral on social media.

This incident took place during the filing of nomination papers for the elections of cooperative societies in Phoolbehad. After the video of the incident surfaced, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has also reacted to it and targeted the BJP.

Akhilesh Yadav said that democracy and constitution are in danger under BJP rule, there is an atmosphere of anarchy. Under the protection of the government, BJP is bent on destroying democracy. BJP is playing with the electoral process and wants to capture democracy. Akhilesh accused BJP of trying to forcibly capture every post through deceit, force and hooliganism.

In fact, former Samajwadi Party district president Anurag Patel, SP district president Rampal Yadav and former SP MLA Ramsaran accused MLA from Srinagar constituency Manju Tyagi of disrupting the nomination process by snatching the nomination papers of the candidate despite the presence of SDM on Thursday.

SP leader claims, all the papers were taken away

Patel claimed that his candidates had filed their nominations and provided proofs, but Manju Tyagi intervened to stop the process. After this incident, Samajwadi Party leaders have announced to meet the District Magistrate on Friday demanding free and fair elections. They criticized the action of the BJP MLA and called it an attempt by BJP leaders to undermine the democratic process.

Returning Officer refused to comment

The returning officer said that 16 nomination papers were purchased, but no nomination was filed on Thursday. He refused to comment on the allegations against MLA Manju Tyagi.

On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Sunil Singh retaliated to the allegations of Samajwadi Party and accused the Samajwadi Party leaders of creating disturbances during the nomination process. He claimed that Manju Tyagi had reached the spot after being called by BJP workers.

Akhilesh Yadav attacked BJP

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said in his statement, ‘BJP is not allowing any election to be held in a free and transparent manner. Earlier, incidents of snatching nomination papers from opposition candidates were reported in the Block Pramukh and MLC elections. Loot and corruption are at its peak in this government. Injustice and atrocities are rampant. He said that there is no hearing for the victims and the innocent.
