Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devender Singh Rana has asserted that the BJP will not allow the National Conference (NC) and the Congress to tamper with the reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Gujjars, Paharis, and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a rally, Rana accused the NC and Congress alliance of being “frustrated” over the political empowerment of these communities in J&K, which was ensured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in line with B.R. Ambedkar’s constitution.

NC’s Manifesto Threatens Reservation Rights

Rana stated that under sheer frustration, the NC was expressing its venom against these marginalized segments by openly declaring in their manifesto that the reservation guaranteed under the Constitution of India would be reviewed and repealed. This implies that the SCs, STs, OBCs, Gujjars, and Pahari youth would be deprived of their legitimate share in jobs, admissions to professional educational institutions, and other amenities enjoyed by the weaker sections across the country.

Congress Volunteers to Further NC’s Anti-Reservation Agenda

Rana accused the Congress of volunteering to further the NC’s agenda against the reserved categories of society, which is not only against the spirit of the constitution but also dangerous, aimed at jeopardizing the nation’s fight against social injustice.

Rana asserted that the BJP would never allow such sinister designs to succeed and that the people of J&K would give a befitting reply to such “divisive machinations” during the ongoing assembly elections. He stated that the major political initiative post abrogation of Article 370 about the empowerment of weaker sections of society was a sacred mission for the BJP, which is committed to protecting their rights at all costs.

NC and Congress

Rana cautioned the NC and the Congress not to even think about the marginalization of the SCs, STs, OBCs, Gujjars, and Paharis, who have every right to progress and prosper politically, economically, socially, and in every field like education and jobs.

The BJP’s stance highlights its commitment to safeguarding the rights and reservations of backward classes in Jammu and Kashmir, even as the state gears up for its first elections after the abrogation of Article 370.
