The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary announced the news at a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Sunday. He clarified that there was no confusion in the NDA leadership and the elections would be held only under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.

Samrat Chaudhry also refuted speculations on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement. Shah said in an interview that the decision to elect the chief ministerial candidate in Bihar will be taken jointly by all NDA allies. Following this statement, discussions on the BJP not being able to make Nitish Kumar the chief minister in the upcoming elections have intensified.

deny speculation

Reacting to the speculations, Chaudhry clarified that the NDA considers Nitish Kumar as its leader and the same will continue in future. Chaudhry said, “In 2020, we went to the elections by declaring Nitish Kumar as the chief minister of the NDA and even today he remains our leader. In the future, the NDA will also be there under him and the elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also said that there was no confusion or controversy within the alliance and the NDA was busy working together on election preparations.

Nitish Kumar to remain spokesperson

Elections to the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held by the end of 2025. In the current political scenario, it is important for the NDA to maintain coordination and unity between the BJP and JDU. This statement by Samrat Chaudhary ensures that Nitish Kumar will remain the face of the NDA in the upcoming assembly elections. Chaudhry’s statement was seen as an attempt to put an end to questions raised about the leadership within and outside the BJP.
