The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for the cancellation of National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah’s nomination from the Ganderbal assembly seat, accusing him of intimidating people through threats of assassination.

According to BJP spokesperson Sunil Sethi, a former Sarpanch of Ganderbal, with Omar Abdullah’s consent, threatened that those who do not support the NC party flag would be killed. Sethi claimed that the NC leader could not have made such threats without the former Chief Minister’s approval, as he is contesting from that assembly segment.

The BJP has decided to approach the Election Commission of India (ECI) to file a complaint against Omar Abdullah and demand the cancellation of his nomination from Ganderbal. Sethi stated that the BJP is exploring various legal options and will soon approach the ECI, as the ADC has already filed a complaint regarding the incident.

The BJP spokesperson accused the NC and Congress of misleading people on issues instead of talking about their manifestos and development plans for Jammu and Kashmir. He also criticized Omar Abdullah for questioning the Supreme Court’s decision on the hanging of Afzal Guru, who was involved in the attack on the Indian Parliament, stating that it shows the NC has no real issues to campaign on.
