A major railway accident has been avoided in Bihar. The engine derailed near the route relay interlocking crossing at Jamalpur railway station in Munger district. After that, three wheels of the locomotive broke away from the railway line. Fortunately, however, no major accidents occurred during this period. Due to the locomotive accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos at Jamalpur Railway Station.
How did the accident happen?
According to information received from the Railways, the shunter and the locomotive driver left the spot after stopping the engine. After some time, the engine itself moved forward about 50 meters, and after approaching the RRI, three wheels of the engine derailed. After receiving information about the incident, engineering and transport department personnel rushed to the scene and began trying to pull the derailed wheel back onto the track using jacks and other equipment at hand.
Many trains are affected
Due to the locomotive accident, train services on Line 3 passing through the Kiul-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur railway section have been suspended. However, Lines 1 and 2 will continue to operate trains on both up and down routes. Brahmaputra Post from Delhi to Kamalgya in the down route and Intercity from Sahibganj to Dhanapur in the up route were affected for half an hour.
The railway department ordered an investigation
After the incident, the railways has ordered an investigation. The Malda Railways has also issued an order to investigate the incident. When the incident occurred, the PWI team and section engineers rushed to the scene immediately. According to officials, on the evening of Friday, November 8, an electric vehicle numbered 30029 was parked on Line 3 of Jamalpur Station. (Reporting: Anamika Gaur)
