At the Bihar Sports Honors Ceremony held every year, athletes and coaches who have excelled at international, national and local levels are recognized. At this ceremony, players will receive awards and bonuses. At the same time, individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of sports are also honored.

It is also being held this year. But this time the state government has increased the honorarium to 50 million rupees to give people more inspiration in sports. Jamui’s javelin throw coach Ashutosh received the honor this year. Ashutosh has collaborated with the National Sports Authority to train many promising athletes and has won gold medals in national level competitions.

Virendra Yadav, who won the national gold medal in the javelin throw, and Ashish Kumar, who won the gold medal in the threat throw, were also honored at the award ceremony. Bihar became the first state to award Indian hockey’s best goalkeeper Srijesh a medal after he won it at the Olympics, boosting the morale of the players here. A total of 615 athletes, 21 coaches, 4 sports assistants and 4 sports officials from 33 sports were honored at the Bihar Sports Honors Ceremony. During this period, a total of approximately 750 million rupees in gratuity were distributed.

Last year in 2023, a total of 411 players (including 11 coaches) won awards at this award ceremony. Currently, honor money worth Rs 155 million has been distributed to 1,272 players.
