This caused dissatisfaction among the cellmates, especially Chahat Pandey, who retaliated by throwing a bucket of water on Avinash who was sleeping inside the jail at 5 am.

Reacting to this, Avinash repeatedly called Chahat a ‘garwal’ (illiterate) and sarcastically taunted her by saying that she threw water on him because she had a crush on him. He said: “I know Chahat loves me very much in her heart, that’s why she poured water on me. So she could see my wet hair and body.” Apparently disturbed by the comment, Chahat shot back: “Ah Vinash Mishra, even the shoes on my feet don’t love you. You defamed a girl on national television.”
