A major fraud has come to light in the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme in Sultanpur, UP. Already mothers of two children were also married under this scheme. After large-scale corruption came to light in the mass marriage scheme, the DM has taken action against the block level officer.
34 married women were remarried
The surprising thing is that not just one or two but a total of 34 such cases have come to light in Sultanpur where mothers of two children have been given the benefit of the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme. This matter is related to Baldirai and Kudwar blocks.
According to the report, the social welfare officer has been negligent in this. After the matter gained momentum, the DM suspended the Village Development Officer while recommended action against the ADO and ordered an investigation. Let us tell you that under the mass marriage scheme, every couple gets Rs 51000.
Fake marriage was organized on 11-12 July
In fact, on July 11, 81 couples got married in Baldirai development block and on July 12, 67 couples got married in Kudwar block under the Chief Minister Group Marriage Scheme. In both the places, government money was distributed on a large scale in this program.
Sarita and Shanti of Mahuli village of Baldirai are sister-in-laws. Sarita got married to Raju about eight years ago, she also has two sons. The elder son is five years old and the younger one is about seven months old. On July 12, Sarita was married to her own husband in Kudwar.
Shanti, daughter of a person named Bhagelu, was also married on the same day, whereas in reality she had been married five years earlier in Umra village, and she also had a one-year-old son. Apart from this, there are many women who were married under this mass marriage program whereas in reality they are already married and are mothers of many children.
No one was investigated
Actually, twenty-four marriages were conducted in Mahuli Gram Panchayat on 11th and 12th July while ten marriages were conducted in Bhakhri, but in the list of ten beneficiaries of Bhakhri on the website, there are four-five women from Mahuli. Bhakhri head representative Suraj Vaish and Mahuli head representative Shiv Singh confirmed this and said that earlier the secretary used to take information from us for its verification, but this time it has not happened.
What are the rules of mass marriage program?
According to the rule, the application received on the portal is sent to the ADO (Social Welfare) Block Development Officer, after getting it verified by the BDO Village Secretary, they report online but Rahul Yadav says that no verification has been done from us.
Now after the fraud came to light, Kudwar Block Development Officer Neelima Gupta has been made the investigating officer. District Social Welfare Officer Amit Kumar Singh said that the Assistant Development Officer is taking charge of social welfare in Baldirai. On the orders of DM, a recommendation has been made to the government through CDO for the suspension of Abhishek Giri.
