The IPL 2025 mega auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from the 24th to the 25th of this month. Under such circumstances, all IPL teams are busy preparing for this large-scale auction. At the same time, big news about large-scale auctions continues to come out. In fact, BCCI has informed the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams that there will be two batches of top players in the mega auction. The major auction will be held on November 24th and 25th.
Based on the information received from the teams, BCCI told them that each group will have two squads of 8-9 players. While it’s not unusual to have two big-name players at a major auction, the last major auction in 2022 only had one. However, there were two sets at auction in 2018 and 2014. Cricbuzz gave this information in its report. Players who have made it to the elite level include Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, R Ashwin, Mitchell Starc and Jos Buttler. The major auction is held at the Abadi Al Jawhar Arena in Jeddah, also known as the Benchmark Arena.
Money will flood players in massive auctions
The base price for each big player has been kept at Rs 2 crore. In this case, it is expected that 30% to 50% of the available auction funds will have been spent by the end of the first two rounds. Each franchise is likely to acquire at least two big-name players and the average sale price is likely to be between Rs 20-250 million. Recently, all franchises have spent Rs 558.5 crore on retention charges (estimated at Rs 1,200 crore).
Kings XI Punjab has the biggest wallet
BCCI has asked franchisees to suggest new names that they would like to include in the auction. Teams are also asked to respond to the registration form by November 12 with a list of players they wish to include on the final roster. If each team has a maximum of 25 players, then 204 players will be purchased in the auction, 70 of which can be foreign players. Kings XI Punjab will participate in the auction with the highest prize money. He has more than 1.1 billion rupees in his wallet.
