Big decision of Rajasthan’s BJP government, approved 33% women reservation in police department

The BJP government in Rajasthan on Wednesday approved 33% reservation for women in the police force, deciding to amend the State Police Subordinate Services Rules, 1989. The state cabinet took this decision in its meeting held here, fulfilling the promise made by the BJP to increase the representation of women in its manifesto for the 2023 assembly elections.

The cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said after the meeting that the police will be able to work with more sensitivity in matters related to women, while this decision will also provide more employment opportunities to women. Jogaram Patel said that the cabinet also discussed the issue of paper leak in the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Examination 2021.

Let us tell you that 42 trainee sub-inspectors and two former members of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) have been arrested for their alleged involvement in this case. Jogaram Patel said that a large number of candidates who were eligible have been selected through this examination. Keeping this in mind, the cabinet has decided not to cancel the examination for now. When asked about the opposition Congress’ demand for reorganization of RPSC due to incidents of corruption and paper leak, Patel said that the commission is a constitutional body which cannot be dissolved without due process.

He said, ‘It would be appropriate to ask Congress leaders like Sachin Pilot how such a big step could be taken without considering all aspects.’ Jogaram Patel said that the previous Congress government had formed new districts in the state without considering public opinion and completely disregarding the norms for dividing existing districts. The minister said that further decision will be taken keeping in mind the report submitted by an expert committee appointed by the state government in this regard.
