After watching the trailer of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s film ‘Stree 2’, everyone started expecting that this film is going to be amazing. It was predicted that the sequel was going to be a bigger blast than what ‘Stree’ had done in 2018. But no one would have thought that this film, which was released in theaters on Thursday on the occasion of Independence Day, will exceed every expectation on the very first day.
‘Stree 2’ filled the theaters on the very first day and in many theatres, the boards of ‘Housefull’, kept aside since last year, came out. ‘Stree 2’ is set to become the biggest film in the universe of filmmaker Dinesh Vijan.
Public’s love showered heavily on ‘Stree 2’
The atmosphere started building since the teaser of Shraddha and Rajkumar’s film came out. After the trailer and songs, it became clear that people are going to flock to the theaters for ‘Stree 2’. The first idea of this was given by the advance booking of the film itself. According to Sacknilk, more than 8 lakh tickets of ‘Stree 2’ had been booked in advance for the first day and the film had collected an advance gross collection of more than Rs 23 crore.
‘Stree 2’ was released on Thursday, but the makers were confident about their product, hence they held the paid premiere of the film on Wednesday night itself. Tickets were sold heavily in these premieres and the film collected Rs 8.35 crore from this. The opening collection of many big films this year is not as much as ‘Stree 2’ earned in paid premieres.
The advantage of the paid premiere was that the film got completely organic word of mouth and theaters started filling up for ‘Stree 2’ from the very first show on Thursday. The film made huge collections on the very first day and initial estimates suggest that ‘Stree 2’ has collected between Rs 46-47 crores on Thursday. Including the premiere, ‘Stree 2’ has got an opening of almost Rs 55 crores.
‘Stree 2’ made a record
Till Wednesday, the biggest opening Hindi film of 2024 was Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Fighter’. This film, which released on the occasion of Republic Day, had collected Rs 24.60 crore on the first day. After this, there was Prabhas film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, whose Hindi version earned 22.50 crores on the first day. But now Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao’s film has gone much ahead of these two. If we look at Thursday’s collection only, the opening collection of ‘Stree 2′ is as much as Hrithik and Prabhas’ films together had made on the first day.
This is just a matter of the first day. ‘Stree 2’ was released on Thursday, a day before its normal release. And it will also get the benefit of Rakshabandhan being on Monday. In such a situation, Shraddha and Rajkumar’s film is going to make some such records, which will seem far beyond the reach of even the big films this year.
