Political unrest over pollution begins as soon as winter sets in in the country’s capital, Delhi. A round of accusations and counter-allegations over pollution continues between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party. Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party chief Virendra Sachdeva holds the Aam Aadmi Party responsible for Delhi’s growing smog problem. He said the capital has more smog problems and this is due to the failure of the Kejriwal government. Sachdeva said the Kejriwal government had not taken any concrete steps to control pollution in Delhi in the past 10 years. He accused the AAP government of corruption and said Delhi’s sewage treatment plants were not functioning properly, causing toxic foam to appear in the Yamuna river.

Sachdeva further said that during the Kejriwal government, 3,100 tons of unprocessed garbage was discharged in Delhi every day. He also pressed the Kejriwal government on the issue of stubble burning and said that the stubble burning incident in Punjab was responsible for the increase in pollution in Delhi.

CM Atishi asks other states to take responsibility

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Atish in a press conference blamed the BJP for Delhi’s pollution. He said that along with air pollution in Delhi, water pollution in Yamuna is also increasing, mainly due to the “dirty politics” of the BJP. Atish said that after the establishment of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, incidents of stubble burning decreased by 50%.

Citing the example of Anand Vihar ISBT, Atishi said Delhi runs CNG and electric buses, while diesel buses come from neighboring Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, adding to pollution.

If necessary, go to court

He also pointed to brick kilns and thermal power plants in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana as the main causes of pollution. Referring to the growing problem of foam and water pollution in the Yamuna river, he said that 165 milliequivalents of industrial waste from Haryana and 55 milliequivalents of industrial waste from Uttar Pradesh are discharged into Yamuna every day. into rivers, causing water pollution to become increasingly serious. He also said that the Delhi government is constantly working to resolve this issue and if the BJP does not take strict measures in this regard, it will approach the door of the Supreme Court if necessary.
