Mumbai Police has identified six accused in the murder case of former Maharashtra government minister and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, of whom three have been arrested and three are absconding. The police are busy searching for the absconding accused. Meanwhile, news has emerged that the plot to murder Baba Siddiqui was allegedly hatched in Patiala jail.

Sources told India Today that agents of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang in Patiala jail allegedly conspired to murder Baba Siddiqui. Mohammad Zishan Akhtar’s name appears mainly in the conspiracy to murder Baba Siddiqui. He is said to be the architect of the plan.

Let us tell you that Gurmail Singh, Dharamraj Kashyap and Shiv Kumar took shots at Baba Siddiqui on Sunday. Among them, Dharamraj and Gurmel have been arrested while Zeeshan, Shubham Lonkar and Shiv Kumar are absconding. Praveen was later arrested by the police. Praveen and Shubham are brothers.

What kind of murder plot is brewing?

Zeeshan, 21, was arrested by Jalandhar police in 2022 on charges of murder and robbery. Sources say that he was lodged in Patiala jail where he met some agents of Lawrence Bishnoi gang who gave him a contract to kill Baba Siddiqui.

After being released from prison on June 7 this year, Zeeshan met Gurmail Singh in Ketal, Haryana. According to police, Zeeshan was instructing Gurmel, Dharamraj Kashyap and Shivkumar about the conspiracy to murder Siddiqui.

The time Baba Siddiqui was shot dead. Zeshan provided the gunman with information on Siddiqui’s location. Even from arranging a rental room for the Gunners to all other arrangements, Mohammad Zeshan has done it all.

To complete the plot, the attackers conducted reconnaissance of Siddiqui’s house and son’s office for four weeks. For this purpose, the attackers stayed in Mumbai for 40 days.

How are gunmen hired?

Shiv Kumar and Dharamraj Kashyap, who were arrested in the Baba Siddiqui murder case, worked as scrap dealers in Pune, while the third accused Praveen Lonkar used to work in a dairy shop. Shivkumar and Dharamraj, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, were hired by Praveen and his brother Shubham Lonkar to murder Siddiqui.

A day after Baba Siddiqui was murdered, in a social media post by Shubham Lonkar, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang admitted responsibility for the murder. Gurmail Singh, Praveen Lokar and Dharamraj Kashyap have been arrested in the case, while three others, Shiv Kumar, Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar and Shubham Lonkar, are still absconding.

According to Mumbai Police, the accused purchased pepper spray and their plan was to attack Baba Siddiqui with pepper spray and then shoot him.

How was the murder carried out?

On August 12, people burst firecrackers outside Baba Siddiqui’s office in Bandra on the occasion of Vijayadashami. Then, between 9:15 and 9:20 pm, Baba Siddiqui emerged from his son’s office. Baba Siddiqui was attacked amidst firecrackers.

Three men with handkerchiefs covering their mouths suddenly got out of the car and fired six bullets in rapid succession. Among them, three bullets hit Baba Siddiqui. As soon as the bullet hit, Baba Siddiqui fell to the ground. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

What has happened so far with this murder?

On the evening of October 11, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui was shot dead by three people in the Bandra East area of ​​Mumbai. He was buried with state honors at Badakalistan on Mumbai lines on Sunday evening. So far, the police have charged six people involved. Immediately after the incident, the police arrested two attackers, Gurmel Baljit Singh (23), a resident of Kaital in Haryana, and Dharam, a resident of Balaich in Uttar Pradesh. The Mumbai Crime Branch produced the duo before the Fort Magistrate’s Court on Sunday evening, where Dharamraj Kashyap claimed that he was a minor. The magistrate court sent Gumail to police custody for seven days till October 21 and also approved an ossification test to ascertain Dharamraj’s actual age.

Dharamraj Kashyap is not a minor but an adult

Dharamraj Kashyap, one of the three accused arrested for the murder of Baba Siddiqui, claimed in court that he was a minor. But the court has ordered an ossification test to determine his exact age. During this test, it was confirmed that the accused Dharamraj was not a minor but an adult. In an ossification test, certain bones in the body are X-rayed and a person’s age is determined based on their structure, strength, and density.

Dharamraj Kashyap is a resident of Gandhara village in Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh. Bahraiz SP Vrinda Shukla said no criminal record has been found so far. He came from an ordinary family and came to Mumbai to work as a laborer.
