Basti: Loan of more than 1 crore given by keeping fake gold as collateral, bank manager arrested, case registered against 35

A shocking case of bank robbery has come to light from Basti in Uttar Pradesh. Where the bank manager himself carried out the robbery. Actually, the manager posted in Muthoot Fincorp Gold Loan Bank gave loans of more than Rs 1 crore to people by keeping fake gold as collateral. This incident was revealed when the audit team of the bank saw fake gold lying in the bank.

A complaint regarding this fraud was lodged at the local police station. During the investigation, the police arrested the then accused branch manager Jaishankar. The police said that the accused had given a loan of Rs 1.06 crore in connivance with the bank employees. The police registered a case against the branch manager, five staff members and 29 customers.

Loans worth more than Rs 1 crore were distributed by mortgaging fake gold

According to the police, Muthoot Finco’s regional manager Nihal Abbas had given a complaint to the local police station on May 12 that between November 2023 and March 2024, a loan of Rs 1 crore 6 lakh 94 thousand 964 was given by mortgaging fake gold in connivance with the branch manager Jaishankar and the employees. When the customers were contacted on this matter, no one came to the branch. After which an FIR was registered against 35 people in the local police station.

Police filed a case against 35 people including a bank employee

The accused include Arun Shrivastav (regional manager), Jaishankar Pandey (branch manager), Palak Shrivastav (gold appraiser), Raghavendra Singh (executive customer service), Arpit Tripathi (executive customer service), Shivantika Gupta (executive customer service) and Shivam Mishra (executive customer service). According to the police, the mastermind of this case is branch manager Jaishankar, resident of Amol Buzurg Post Dullhapur police station Katka district Ambedkarnagar, who was arrested by the Kotwali police on Monday and sent to jail.
