Beirut: The government of Bashar Assad in Syria has been overthrown. Bashar al-Assal fled to Russia after leaving the country, and now the reality related to his life has come to light. Shocking personal photos have emerged from the abandoned residence of former Syrian President Bashar Assad. After seeing these photos, people started making fun of Assad. Those who made the most fun of the photos were those who until recently had been persecuted for criticizing Assad’s leadership.

Photos found in a photo album found in Assad’s compound in the hills between Damascus and Aleppo reportedly paint an unflattering portrait of Bashar and his father, Hafez al-Assad. Hafez ruled Syria brutally for decades. One photo showed Hafez wearing only a pair of underwear and striking a bodybuilder’s pose, while another showed Bashar showing off his “biceps” (arms).

Valuables were looted from Bashar al-Assad’s official residence and photos related to his personal life were released. Increasingly, racy photos of Assad taking off his clothes in different positions and in strange ways are going viral online, with people making fun of them. One photo taken in the mountains depicts Assad with a group of people, including his alleged uncle Ihab Makhlouf, wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with Hitler. (Associated Press)
