Bangladesh’s arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu sparks uproar, attacks Hindus again; many injured

Bangladesh attacks Hindus: Violence breaks out again in Bangladesh. The situation further deteriorated after the arrest of Chinmoy Krishnan Das, chairman of ISKCON Pundarik Dham in Chittagong. People from the Hindu community took to the streets to protest against the arrest of Chinmay Prabhu, during which BNP and Jamaat workers attacked him. More than 50 people from the Hindu community were injured in the attack. Kushal Balan, a member of the Hindu community and a professor at Chittagong University, was also attacked during a peaceful rally in Shah Bagh, Dhaka. He was seriously injured in the attack. Many people were also taken to hospital.

ISKCON demands release

After Chinmoy Prabhu’s arrest, ISKCON published a post on X. I said in it that we have received worrying news that Chinmoy Krishna Das, a prominent leader of ISKCON Bangladesh, has been arrested by Dhaka police. ISKCON calls on the Indian government to take immediate action and engage in dialogue with the Bangladesh government. We are a peaceful giving movement. We hope the Bangladesh government releases Chinmoy Krishna Das as soon as possible. We pray to Lord Krishna for the safety of these devotees.

A case of treason has been registered

On October 30 this year, Bangladesh filed a case for insulting the national flag against 19 people including Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu under the Sedition Act. Two other people were arrested in the case. It is said that on October 25, Sanatan Jagran Manchi organized a rally at Ladiki Stadium in Chittagong to raise eight-point demands. During this time, some people hoisted saffron flags on the Freedom Pillar in the square. This flag says Aami Sanatani. In response, Chinmoy Krishna Das was accused of defying and insulting the national flag.

Hindus targeted in Bangladesh

Meanwhile, we would also like to inform you that the Bangladeshi police arrested Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday. The minority Hindus living there were targeted after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government due to the student movement in Bangladesh. Hindus and their religious sites were targeted during the student movement. The ISKCON temple in Khulna, Meherpur, Bangladesh was also targeted. In response to the attack, Chinmoy Prabhu expressed deep concern for the safety of Hindu temples.
