Bangladeshis will not be able to enter hotels…
Demonstrations continue in several Indian states to protest against Bangladesh’s atrocities against minority Hindus and the plagiarism of the Indian flag. Not only that, two hospitals in Agartala and Kolkata have also recently banned the admission of Bangladeshi citizens. Meanwhile, hotels and restaurants in Tripura also took a big decision on Monday. They are now denying services to Bangladeshis.
The decision was taken by the All Tripura Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association, which represents most of the hotels and restaurants in the state. The decision was announced amid massive protests in Tripura capital Agartala over the arrest of Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das and attacks on Bangladeshi minorities. Not only this, the association also implemented this decision in hotels in Kolkata.
Tripura Hotels Association takes big step
The move by Tripura Hotels Association is seen as part of the growing concern over increasing attacks and violence against minorities in Bangladesh. However, it is unclear how long the ban will last. Following this decision, the West Bengal-based Hotel and Restaurant Association also decided not to provide services to Bangladeshi citizens after a meeting, the association also informed.
Relations between the two countries are increasingly tense
The decision by the Tripura Hotels and Restaurants Association is indicative of the growing tension between the two countries. Incidents of violence and religious persecution against Bangladesh’s minority Hindu community have heightened tensions between the two countries. Meanwhile, the impact of this decision is also being seen in Tripura and West Bengal, although the status of future decisions related to the entry of tourists from Bangladesh is currently unclear.
Hundreds of protesters protest in Agartala
In Agartala, hundreds of protesters held a rally near the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh, with more than 50 of them entering the premises. The development has created an atmosphere of concern among officials and employees. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the violation. The MEA also clarified that security of all diplomatic and consular properties must be ensured at all times and will enhance security of Bangladesh missions.
