The two gunmen who shot Siddiqui were from this area. One of them is Dharamraj Kashyap and the other is Shivkumar Gautam (aka Shiva). Both are residents and neighbors of Gandala village. The gunmen, aged 18 to 19, were linked to the scrap business in Pune.
The murder of Baba Siddiqui highlighted the violence in Balaichi. Communal tensions have wreaked havoc on the social fabric here. The angle of whether Siddiqui’s murder was a catalyst for unrest in the area is also being investigated. To control the situation, the police had to use tear gas and lathi charges.

District Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla said that we have tried our best to control the situation. The villains who tried to spoil the atmosphere were dispersed. At present, the situation is under control.
