The RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case has sparked protests across the country and similar outrage was also seen in Thane’s Badlapur, where a school attendant allegedly sexually abused two girls. Meanwhile, a similar incident in Pakistan’s Lahore city has shocked people. In Lahore, a sweeper at Ganga Ram Hospital allegedly raped a five-year-old girl.

The incident took place on the seventh floor of the hospital’s Mother and Child Centre, sparking outrage and massive protests across the city. According to the girl’s mother, hospital employee Abid was caught trying to sexually abuse her daughter. Her cries for help attracted a crowd who later beat up the suspect.

The accused was taken into custody

The girl’s mother has accused the hospital administration of trying to hush up the incident. Despite her protests, hospital security guards detained 22-year-old Abid and handed him over to the Mozang police. Police have said that initial investigations found no concrete evidence of sexual assault despite the family’s claims. Nevertheless, a case of harassment was registered against the suspect and further investigation of the hospital’s CCTV footage is underway.

Security of women workers and patients will be increased

Officials further claimed that the girl’s mother initially did not want to take legal action. Angered by the incident, women doctors and paramedical staff of Ganga Ram Hospital staged a protest, demanding justice and strict measures for the safety of women patients and staff on the hospital premises.
