Badlapur: Accused Akshay had a second marriage 4 months ago, neighbors said- we did not know such a monster lives here

Akshay Shinde, the accused arrested in the case of sexual harassment of two girls in a school in Badlapur of Thane district of Maharashtra, had married twice. The accused’s first wife left him because she was fed up with his bad habits. After this, the accused got married for the second time after just four months.

Aaj Tak exclusively spoke to a neighbour of the accused Akshay Shinde in Badlapur, who revealed that the entire area where he lived was in shock due to the incident, ashamed that the accused lived in their area.

Requesting anonymity, the accused’s neighbour said that Akshay got married recently and lived with his brother and mother, the marriage happened around 4 months ago. This was his second marriage, his first wife left him due to his habits and domestic issues between them.

He said that the second wife was not seen in the area for the last few days. They were living in this area for the last 5 years. Earlier the accused used to live in another area, but the municipal corporation officials demolished his slum, so the accused’s family came here. No one had even thought that such a monster is living among our families in this area.

However, after Akshay Shinde’s arrest, the family members immediately left the area and locked the house and went somewhere else. On Wednesday, angry people vandalized the accused’s house. Shinde was produced in court on Wednesday for second remand and the court extended his police custody remand till August 26. An SIT has been formed under the chairmanship of IG Aarti Singh. The Special Investigation Team has taken over the investigation from Badlapur Police.

The police arrested accused Akshay Shinde under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sections 65(2) (rape of a girl under 12 years of age), 74 (assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of woman), 75 (sexual harassment) and 76 (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code.
