Mumbai police have made another arrest from Punjab in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui. This is the 24th arrest so far in the case. Maharashtra police arrested Akash Deep Gill from Fazilka district of Punjab. The Mumbai Police conducted the operation in collaboration with the Punjab Police (AGTF). According to officials, Gill helped the gunman in the murder. He is currently being taken to Mumbai for transit remand.
On October 12, NCP leader Baba Siddiqui was shot dead near the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui in Nirmal Nagar area of ​​Bandra. So far, Mumbai police have arrested 24 people involved in the case. Recently, the police also arrested the main gunman Shivkumar Gautam from Balaich, Uttar Pradesh, who absconded after the incident. Gautam was arrested while trying to escape to Nepal.
Lawrence Bishnoi gang ties
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that the arrested accused Akash Deep Gill was an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Preliminary investigations also revealed that he cooperated with the gunman involved in the murder. AGTF deputy commissioner of police Pramod Ban said the Punjab police are working on the case in collaboration with the Mumbai police to unravel the entire murder conspiracy.
Joint operation between Mumbai and Punjab police
Police revealed a vast network in the case, with suspects coming from multiple states. With the arrest of Akash Deep Gill, the role of Lawrence Bishnoi gang in the conspiracy became stronger. Investigations into the case are continuing and police said police from both states are taking joint operations to break every link in the gang.
