After the consecration of Ram Lalla in the grand temple being built on Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh has created a new record in the number of tourists. After the inauguration of the temple in January, Ayodhya tourism has become a new hotspot for devotees. There has been a tremendous increase in the number of tourists arriving here. In the first six months of the year itself, 11 crore tourists visited Ayodhya.

Releasing the data, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department said that in the first half of the year 2024, the highest number of tourists have reached Ayodhya in the state. This number is around 11 crores. According to the information received from the department, in the first six months, 10 crore 99 lakh 69 thousand 702 domestic and 2,851 foreign tourists, i.e. a total of 10 crore 99 lakh 72 thousand 553 (about 11 crore) tourists have reached Ayodhya. Earlier, Varanasi was at number one in terms of the number of tourists.

Devotees from every state of the country are reaching Ayodhya daily to have darshan of Ram Lalla. After Pran Pratishtha, Ayodhya has become a new center of religious tourism. Research firm Jefferies had claimed in one of its reports that in the coming time, Ayodhya will surpass Mecca and Vatican City in terms of the number of visitors and tourists. UP Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh said that due to religious and spiritual tourism, UP is emerging as a global tourist destination.

Ayodhya, Kashi makes UP a new centre of tourism

There has been a huge increase in the number of tourists in Uttar Pradesh this year. The reason for this is also Ayodhya. In the first six months of the year, 32 crore 98 lakh 18 thousand tourists have reached UP. This includes 32 crore 87 lakh 81 thousand domestic tourists and 10 lakh 36 thousand 774 foreign tourists, while if compared with the figures of 2022, the number of tourists recorded in the state in the whole year was 31 crore 86 lakh. Varanasi is at second place in terms of the number of tourists, where 4.61 crore tourists arrived in six months. In this, the number of four crore 59 lakh 82 thousand 313 domestic and one lakh 33 thousand, 999 foreign tourists have been recorded.

More than three crore tourists reached Mathura

The special thing is that the work that has been going on for the development of religious and spiritual tourist places and the possibilities of tourism in UP for some time now is showing its effect. Tourists have also arrived in large numbers in Prayagraj and Mathura. Three crore seven lakh two thousand 513 domestic tourists arrived in Mathura while 49 thousand 619 foreign tourists have arrived. According to the information received from the Tourism Department, in the first half, 69 lakh 84 thousand 352 domestic and 7 lakh, 3 thousand 860 foreign tourists have arrived in the Taj city of Agra. Describing the record number of tourists as an achievement, UP Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh said that Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a top tourist destination on the world map. With the continuous development of tourist places and increase in tourist facilities, more and more tourists are turning to UP.
