In Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, a woman fell in love with her nephew who was 10 years her junior, after which both of them committed suicide due to opposition from the people.
Regarding this incident, the police said that a woman and her nephew, upset with the opposition from their relationship, committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train on Sunday.
According to the news agency report, Itiyathok police station in-charge Durgvijay Singh said that widow Pushpa Devi (32) lived with her two children in her in-laws’ house in Itiyathok area. Police said she was in a relationship with her nephew Ravindra Kumar, aged 22.
However, the family members were against it and wanted to get her married somewhere else. Pushpa was angry with this and she did not want the young man to get married to someone else. However, during this time she was fed up of the taunts she received from the people around her.
Police station in-charge said that Pushpa and Ravindra committed suicide by jumping in front of the train near Kathuva railway crossing on Sunday afternoon. Police said that Pushpa’s family has an eight-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.
