The chief minister said the government was making continuous efforts to stop child marriage. A special campaign was launched for this purpose. In the operation that began on the night of December 21 and 22, police have so far registered 335 cases and arrested 416 people. Who will appear in court on Sunday.

The chief minister said we will continue such action. In the meantime, we will continue to take bold steps to eradicate social evils.

The Assam government launched a two-phase campaign against child marriage in February and October 2023. A total of 3,483 people were arrested in the first phase of the operation, and a total of 4,515 cases were opened and investigated in the second phase. In the second phase in October, 915 people were arrested and 710 cases opened. The third phase had the lowest number of cases and arrests.

Start planning to end child marriage

In a bid to stop the practice of child marriage in Assam, the government is also providing a monthly scholarship of Rs 1,000 to female students studying in schools and colleges. And female students have graduated. He receives Rs 2,500 per month. The CM has said that this move will help in stopping child marriage in Assam. However, child marriage cases have declined in Assam compared to previous years.
