Terrorist arrested
Assam Police has achieved great success in fighting terrorism. Assam Police Special Task Force arrested eight suspected terrorists. All the arrested suspects are members of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda affiliate Ansarullah Bangladesh Team (ABT). All eight defendants arrested appeared in court. From there he was sent to police custody for 10 days.
Assam police have seized pen drives and objectionable documents from their possession. Police are examining documents seized from them.

Actions taken under Operation Pragat
The Assam Police contingent launched Operation Pragat based on intelligence information, the officer said. Accordingly, Bengali Mohammad Saad Radhi (also known as Mohammad Sabu Shaikh), a resident of Rajshahi, was arrested from Kerala.
The official said these terrorists have networks spread across the country. These include sleeper cells who allegedly recruit people, incite violence and plan to disrupt communal harmony in India.

Detention from different states
Police informed that Minalul Shaikh and Mohammad Abbas Ali were arrested in West Bengal. The remaining suspects include Noor Islam Mandal, Abdul Karim Mandal, Mojibar Rehman, Hamidul Islam and Enamul Haq, all detained in Assam.
A number of objectionable materials were seized during the raid. These include cell phones, pen drives, religious texts and official documents related to foreign countries.
Terrorists want to establish sleeper cells
Special Superintendent of Police Harmanpreet Singh said preliminary investigation revealed that those arrested were spreading extremist ideologies. Apart from this, they are also working on setting up sleeper cells in Assam and West Bengal to recruit people.
Authorities have identified Noor Islam Mandal as a key figure in the network. As of 2015, the country had a record of terrorist activities. He is accused of inciting communal violence and providing space for terrorist groups.
