The chief minister should talk to the Bengal government to handle the situation. Meanwhile, potato traders in West Bengal have warned that they will be forced to go on strike if the state government does not lift the ban on potato sales to other states.

Many trucks returning from Bangladesh border

The Bangladesh government has banned potato exports to Jharkhand, Assam and Odisha. Police stations have set up checkpoints at border stations to ban trucks carrying potatoes from entering these states. Police maintained tight security at Beldar and Dantan police stations on the Bengal-Odisha border. Police stopped and searched all vehicles heading towards Odisha. Many vehicles carrying potatoes were turned back from checkpoints.

In this regard, state Opposition Leader Shubhendu Adhikari said that there are no borders between countries, there is only one country. The work carried out by the Mamata police in the border areas of Assam, Odisha and Jharkhand is illegal. If it is not removed then we will take all possible steps. The police blockade of the national highway is completely illegal. He will discuss the matter with the National Highways Authority and the Union Home Minister. Central forces will be deployed if required. There are no borders between countries.

300 trucks arrive in Odisha from Uttar Pradesh

Here, 300 truckloads of potatoes have arrived in Odisha from Uttar Pradesh and prices are expected to stabilize thereafter. Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister KC Patra said that after stopping the import of potatoes from Bangladesh, it has started procuring potatoes from UP. He claimed that the price of potatoes has been controlled at Rs 35 per kg. At the same time, he warned that strict action would be taken if cases of black marketing of potatoes were discovered.
