On the eve of the G20 summit last year, the national capital of Delhi was given a new look. The streets of the city were decorated with artworks and fountains. However, some people said that the splendor of the city would be lost after the event. But even a year after organizing the summit, these concerns of some people have apparently proved to be wrong. Among them, the artifacts and decorations made on the roadside are still well preserved.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena convened a meeting to review the status of these facilities and check their maintenance and thanked the departments for setting up the mechanism for maintaining these relics.

Ahead of the G-20 summit in Delhi, 150 ancient artifacts including Konark Wheel, Yakshini and Elephant Family are being regularly maintained. Similarly, 150 stone fountains purchased from Rajasthan are functioning smoothly.

Artifacts showcase rich cultural heritage

These artifacts are mainly taken from Rajasthan and Odisha and showcase the rich cultural heritage of India. They are strategically set up in Delhi. These artifacts are the focal point of the capital’s main roads and tourist attractions.

After the G-20 ended last year, LG has conducted 130 site visits in order to maintain the maintenance standards of all these cultural relics. Thanks to their continuous monitoring, these cultural relics remain in pristine condition, proving that the beautification of the G20 capital is not a temporary thing.

Meanwhile, the public also played a major role in this success. The Lieutenant Governor thanked the residents of Delhi for their support and stressed that these artifacts will become a permanent asset to the city. Even after the G20 summit is over, these artifacts continue to enrich Delhi. Notable ones include the stone fountain at Vijay Ghat, the family of white marble elephants at the RML roundabout and the white sandstone chariot at the junction of Sardar Patel Marg and Simon Bolivar Marg.

Even after the G20 summit, Delhi is still making progress. Collaborative efforts between government agencies and the public are ensuring that the city remains a testament to India’s cultural richness and aesthetic devotion.
