Arrest in Abu Dhabi, extradition to India… CBI took help of NIA to arrest wanted terrorist Tarsem Singh.

Wanted Terrorist Tarsem Singh Sandhu Arrest: Wanted Khalistani terrorist Tarsem Singh has been arrested by CBI in connection with the RPG attack on the intelligence headquarters of Punjab Police in Mohali and other terrorist cases. CBI worked together with NIA for this work. Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against Tarsem. The NIA team brought that terrorist back to India from Abu Dhabi through a security mission and upon reaching Delhi on Friday morning, he was arrested by the CBI.

On the request of NIA, on November 13, 2023, CBI had asked the Interpol General Secretariat to issue a red notice against wanted terrorist Tarsem Singh. A CBI spokesperson told PTI that this red notice was issued against him for his terrorist crimes and financing of terrorist activities for which he was wanted. A red notice for the location and arrest of the accused was circulated to all Interpol member countries.

CBI officials said that Tarsem Singh is the brother of designated terrorist Lakhbir Landa. He is a key member of the Babbar Khalistan International (BKI) terrorist organization and an important terror node of designated terrorists Harvinder Sandhu alias Rinda and Lakhbir Singh alias Landa in the UAE. Apart from other cases, he was also wanted in connection with an RPG attack on a Punjab Police office in Mohali in May 2022.

He was initially arrested in Abu Dhabi in November 2023 under an Interpol Red Corner Notice and was extradited on Friday. Terrorist Tarsem Singh was actively involved in arranging and providing terrorist funds to the India-based associates of Harvinder Sandhu alias Rinda and Lakhbir Singh alias Landa. It is alleged that Tarsem Singh also helped in channelization of terrorist funds through several routes.

NIA had booked him on August 20, 2022, in connection with terror activities by heads/members of banned terrorist organizations such as Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), BKI and International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), who have formed a network of terror operators across India. A big network has been created.

A CBI official said that these organizations are working through members/operators of terrorist organizations and organized criminal gangs to smuggle arms, ammunition, explosives, IEDs from across the border. The NIA investigation so far has revealed that they are using drug trafficking, extortion, hawala business to raise funds to carry out terrorist activities on Indian soil.
