The Indian Ministry of Defense on Friday signed an agreement with Larsen & Toubro to procure 155 mm/52 caliber K9 Vajra T self-propelled artillery gun for the Indian Army. The deal is worth Rs 7,628 crore. The contract was signed by Defense Ministry officials and representatives of Larsen & Toubro in the presence of Defense Minister Rajesh Kumar Singh, South Zone, New Delhi.
The purchase of K9 Vajra-T will enhance the artillery capabilities of the Indian Army and its modernization. The procurement of K9 Vajra-T will enhance the overall combat readiness of the Indian Army. This multi-purpose artillery with cross-country mobility will play an important role in enhancing the firepower of the Indian Army.

It can fire at full load in sub-zero temperatures at high altitudes and perform various combat missions in accordance with army requirements. Under the Make in India initiative, the project will create over 900,000 jobs within four years.
