Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo star in Jon M. Chu’s highly anticipated musical Evil part 1shared their powerful vocals in an 11-second behind-the-scenes clip that included them performing “Defying Gravity.” The video quickly went viral, creating buzz among fans eager for the film.
Alongside the clip, a new featurette has been released showing behind-the-scenes footage of actors including Grande, Erivo, and Jonathan Bailey. They discussed the importance of singing live rather than overdubbing. Director Jon M. Chu praised their incredible talent, noting, “They are the best singers in the world, so every scene was sung live by them.”
The clip also includes scenes of Grande warming up and Erivo practicing using a flight harness.
Evil part 1Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, it follows the journeys of Elphaba (Erivo) and Glinda (Glenda) before they become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda, the Good Witch. The film will be released on November 22 and features a large cast including Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang and Peter Dinklage.
