A spokesperson for the studio clarified that reports of unequal pay were “completely false,” stressing that both actresses were paid equally for their roles.
Rumors first surfaced on social media platforms like TikTok and Reddit earlier this week, with some users claiming Grande was paid $15 million for the film, while Erivo was only paid $1 million. These unsubstantiated claims based on “online material” quickly attracted attention and were reproduced by various news media, sparking controversy. However, sources close to the production confirmed hollywood reporter Erivo and Grande were paid equally for their work on the film, which was directed by Jon Chu.
