Protect your Aadhar card like this
To do this, first you have to visit the UIDAI website, then select the language of your choice and go to the next page.
You will then open the home page of the UIDAI website. Scroll down and you will see the Aadhaar service option.

Before proceeding to the next step, you have to generate the virtual ID number of the Aadhar card.

To do this, visit this website and generate or retrieve the virtual ID number of your Aadhar card.
After entering the Aadhaar number and verification code here, you have to click or tap on ‘Generate’.

The OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your mobile number registered on your Aadhar card, enter the number and generate a virtual ID.
Now you are on the page to lock/unlock Aadhar card. Here you can choose to lock and unlock Aadhar card.

To lock the card, select “Lock” and after entering the given information, you can protect your Aadhar card by locking it.
Do this before sharing Aadhar card
Before sharing your Aadhaar card with anyone, you can apply a mask on it. Before applying the mask on your Aadhar card, follow the steps below.
- First visit the UIDAI website.
- Here you can go to the My Aadhaar option and enter your card number and verification code.
- Now the OTP will appear on your registered mobile number, enter it to complete the verification process.
- After verification, you will see the option to download Aadhaar card, click on it.
- Now you will be asked if you want to download Masked Aadhaar Card? For this you will get a box, click on it.
Thereafter you will be able to download the masked Aadhar card. Now if you want to share Aadhaar card anywhere then you should share only masked Aadhaar card. By doing this, your Aadhar card will not be misused.
