November 23, 2024: The recent news of AR Rahman and wife Saira Banu’s separation has attracted a lot of attention, especially the timing of the news that bassist Mohini Dey has also ended her marriage to Mark Hartsuch. This sparked speculation among netizens, who wondered whether there was a connection between the two incidents. However, AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen quickly refuted the rumors on social media, calling them “baseless”.

Amin expressed his displeasure with the spread of false information and emphasized his father’s integrity and legacy. He wrote on Instagram: “My father is a legend, not only for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect and love he earned over the years. It is disheartening to see false and unfounded rumors being spread. Let us all remember the importance of truth and respect when speaking about someone’s life and legacy. Please do not engage in or spread such misinformation.” He also shared a story and left a message: “There is no connection between Rahman and Dey’s divorce.”

Earlier, Rahman’s daughter Khadija also took to social media to plead for the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

Lawyers for Rahman and Serra officially confirmed their separation in a joint statement, which stated that the decision was due to “severe emotional strain” in their relationship. The statement called the decision painful but necessary and said the couple had been battling insurmountable tensions and difficulties.

Rahman also shared a poignant message on his X (formerly Twitter) account, reflecting on their separation. He acknowledged the emotional pain caused by the situation and said, “We were hoping to make it to the top thirty, but everything seems to have an unseen ending. Even God’s throne trembles with broken hearts.” Rahman further expressed his gratitude for their kindness and respect for their privacy during this challenging chapter in their lives.

The couple married in 1995 and have three children: Khatija, Raheema and Ameen. Despite rumors swirling around their separation, the Rahman family continues to urge respect for their personal lives and continued privacy.
