Samajwadi Party patron and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav will join the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission as vice-president on Wednesday. This information has come to light quoting sources. Aparna Yadav was appointed to this post last week, but she has not yet taken charge. There were speculations that she is unhappy with the appointment.

However, sources close to her told the news agency on Tuesday that she will formally join the commission on Wednesday morning. Aparna Yadav met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday evening, putting an end to rumours that she would rejoin the SP.

Principal Secretary Leena Johri issued an official notification stating that last week Governor Anandiben Patel had nominated Babita Chauhan as chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission and Aparna Yadav and Charu Chaudhary as vice-chairpersons for a period of one year or until the decision of the state government.

Aparna lost the assembly elections in 2017
Aparna Yadav has a diploma in international relations and contested the UP assembly elections from Lucknow Cantt seat on a SP ticket in 2017, but she had to face defeat. Then Aparna Yadav lost to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi. She joined the BJP in January 2022. After this, it was expected that the party would make her contest the elections, but she did not get the ticket. After that, many such opportunities came, sometimes Legislative Council and sometimes Rajya Sabha, there were speculations that BJP would give her some responsibility, but she remained empty handed.

Meanwhile, she kept having regular meetings with CM Yogi Adityanath. When the Lok Sabha elections were held this year, it seemed that the party would prepare her to contest from Kannauj, Mainpuri or Amethi, Rae Bareli, but those speculations were also rejected with time. Aparna Yadav has not been given any major responsibility in the BJP organization for the last two and a half years.
