Superstar Shahrukh Khan’s film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ was one of the highest-grossing films of 2012. In this film of director Yash Chopra, who gave memorable love stories to Hindi films, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif were also present along with Shahrukh.
Bollywood’s iconic writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar has now strongly criticized this film. Referring to a dialogue of Anushka Sharma in the film, Javed Sahab said that the makers had no idea what an empowered woman is, hence they were showing ‘fake empowerment’.

YouTube chat show ‘Be a Man Yaar!’ While talking, Javed Sahab mentioned a dialogue which was spoken by Anushka’s character in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. He said, ‘There was a picture of Yash Chopra Sahab. One of the heroines had a dialogue in it – ‘After sleeping with a boy of every nationality in the world, I will marry him!’ Hey brother, why will you work so hard? Are you empowered? are you modern? are you cool? Are you forward thinking? Do you agree? You don’t need to work so hard! There are many nationalities in the world, don’t fall into that trap.
Filmmakers do not have the idea of ’Modern Indian Woman’
Javed Akhtar further said, ‘What is this now? What does this dialogue mean? Where is she coming in Yash Chopra’s film? Because they had to fake that she is an empowered girl! They are not very clear about what an empowered girl is, that is why they are exaggerating. Javed Akhtar said that today’s filmmakers are still confused as to what is the idea of a modern Indian woman.
Let us tell you, Yash Chopra has made iconic love stories like ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’ and ‘Veer Zara’. ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ released in 2012 was his last film. Anushka Sharma also received the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this film.
