In the wolf terror in Baraichi, Uttar Pradesh, angry villagers mistook a jackal for a wolf and killed it. In fact, a young man named Akshay Pratap Singh was at a farm in Kalanai village in Jharwal Road area. That’s when a jackal attacked him. When the young man shouted, people nearby rushed to the scene and thought the jackal was a wolf and attacked him, leading to his death.

Let us tell you that many cattle attacks have been reported recently. On receiving information about the killing of the jackal, Kaiserganj Forest Range Officer Abhishek Singh rushed to the spot and took over the carcass of the jackal and sent it for post-mortem. Forest officials said that a case has been registered against four unidentified persons under the Wildlife Protection Act.

The injured youth, Akshay Pratap Singh, said he was going to the farm in the morning when a jackal attacked him. The jackal bit his hand and attacked again. He was able to escape when villagers came after hearing screams. Akshay said he was not sure whether the person who attacked him was a wolf or a jackal.

Regarding this, DFO Ajit Pratap Singh said that this is not the first time that this has happened. In the past, people have mistaken jackals for wolves many times. Information about attacks on other animals has been recorded, among which nails were driven into the feet of cattle and buffaloes, but it cannot be confirmed whether it was only the bites of jackals. Regarding the case of jackals going crazy, the DFO said that only through the autopsy report can we know whether the jackals have gone crazy.

The forest department has sent the carcass of the jackal for post-mortem to know its condition. Investigations are underway to find out whether the jackal was angry or not. An FIR has been registered against four unidentified persons under the Wildlife Act and an investigation has begun.
