Jason Shah, who played the role of British Officer Cartwright in the series, has expressed his displeasure with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. According to Jason, Bhansali did not direct most of his scenes. Because of this his talent could not develop well.

Heeramandi was released on 1 May. Every cast of the series got recognition from this. It was praised a lot, but three months after it was streamed, Jason Shah started having problems. According to Jason, he could not get the right opportunity. Jason told Rishabh Podcast that he wanted to say a lot, but did not say it because then he would have been tagged as a troublemaker.
Jason said – This was his first time working in a web series. Film is a bit different because the web is a bit spread out, you have to make a lot of episodes, and it is not made in a short time… He was not even directing that much. There were other directors also with me. I felt that we could have worked on it a little more, and a lot more colors could have come out. I think there was so much potential in those scenes.
‘Trouble Maker’ Jason
Along with this, Jason told that there was a lack of communication on the sets of Hiramandi. Also said that if there was scope to explore, he could have done a lot more with his character. Jason said, “What was missing was depth of character. If you look at Gandhi, along with Ben Kingsley, they really show how far racism can go. When asked if he expressed his points or concerns to the director, Jason laughed and said, “I think I’ve said enough.
