Andhra Pradesh: This village bans non-veg and alcoholic drinks, a tradition that dates back hundreds of years; the reason will surprise you

People in this village in Andhra Pradesh don’t eat non-veg

There is a village in Andhra Pradesh where no alcohol is consumed nor any non-veg food is cooked anywhere in the village. There are not even eggs in the nutritious food provided by the school. You may be surprised to hear this, but it’s true. This tradition did not start today, but has continued in this village for hundreds of years. The reason for this tradition is even more surprising. We are talking about Adiguppa village in Ananathapuram district of Andhra Pradesh.

People of this village located in Gummagatta mandal of Ananthapuram district said that though no one in their village does not eat vegetarian food or drink alcohol, but if someone has to eat vegetarian food or drink alcohol under special circumstances, then he should go out through everyone in the village. According to the villagers, this restriction is not imposed by others, but has been done by the villagers themselves for hundreds of years in order to worship the gods. According to villagers, Adiguppa was once ruled by the Palgaru dynasty. At that time, Adi Guba was quite prosperous due to its abundant food crops.

Danger comes from alcohol and non-veg

Because of this, nearby kings always tried to capture the area. Once, King Budige Chinnayya of the Chitradurgan kingdom attacked Adiguppa. The king first sent a soldier to the village. Who made the villagers drink a lot of wine and feed them meat. When the villagers were unconscious due to drunkenness, King Chitradurgam surrounded the fort. During this time, King Adigupakot prayed to God. After this, the king finally awoke his soldiers and then killed the entire army of the enemy king and buried them near the fort.

People do not violate tradition

At that time King Adigupa donated 150 acres of land to the village. At the same time, a temple to the God of National Salvation was built in the village. At the same time, the whole village vowed not to eat meat or drink alcohol from now on. Since then, the tradition has started. To this day, people in the village still keep this tradition. To date, no one has violated this tradition, intentionally or unintentionally. Even those in the village who wanted to eat meat and drink wine as hobbies volunteered to go outside the village to do this work. The situation is that even eggs, a nutritious food provided to children in schools, are not distributed in this village.
