Religious Endowment Board.
The Andhra Pradesh government has abolished the National Religious Endowment Board. Following the government’s move, the minority welfare department issued a notification. Accordingly, it was reported that the High Court had banned the election of the chairman. The waqf was established during the regime of former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. After this decision was made, many leaders of major political parties such as YSRCP and TDP reacted.
There is a lot of debate going on across the country today about the Waqf Bill. Meanwhile, there are reports that the Andhra Pradesh government has dissolved the Waqf Board. On Saturday, the Waqf Board had ordered the event to be canceled. The government said it has taken steps to protect the properties of waqf boards in the state. However, the Waqf Board canceled the bill after finding that the property was being misused.
The opposition government raised questions
YSRCP leader Amjad Basha also said how can action be taken when the matter is pending in court? Basha described the coalition government’s move as vindictive and said that we did not cancel the waqf committee in 2023, but the members left on their own, but the coalition government abolished it completely.
Basha also talked about taking legal action against the government’s actions. He said the minority groups were opposed to the Waqf Board amendment proposed by the Centre. He also claimed that the government’s desire to control the properties of religious foundations was a violation of minority rights.
